Americans, Gen Y, and Library Use

According to a joint study from the Pew Internet and American Life Project and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, young adults ages 18-30 (I’m still considered a young adult—phew!) are the heaviest library users. The study also found that library usage drops as people age. 62% among Americans aged 18-30 use libraries compared to 32% among those 72 and up, with a sharp decline just as Americans turn 50.
